Public hearings
Public hearings are meant to familiarise people with large infrastructure projects coming up in their vicinity. It is an important part of the EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) process.
However, sometimes, loopholes in the process are exploited, and project-affected-people don’t get to say their peace. In order to avoid such a situation, this manual breaks down the law governing public hearings, the responsibilities of the project proponents and governments, and how people can prepare for one.
